Leandra's Law: Drunk 27-Year-Old Crashes In Region With Child In Car, Police Say A 27-year-old woman from the region is accused of causing a drunk-driving crash involving a child. The Saratoga County incident happened at around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, in the town of Ballston. Sheriff’s officials said Haley Czwakiel, of Ballston Spa, had a blood alcohol content (BAC) greater than .08 percent when she caused a property damage crash on Saratoga Road. At the time of the crash, she was traveling with a child under the age of 15, deputies said. Neither Czwakiel nor the child were injured. A stretch of a busy Hudson Valley road was temporarily closed to traffic following a crash that resulted in a large oil spill, police said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, May 15, when a crash occurred on Route 6 in Mahopac between Crane and Washington Roads, Carmel Police announced around 12:15 p.m.  The crash caused a large oil spill that had to be cleaned up by hazmat teams and area fire departments.  No injuries were reported in the incident. Rensselaer County resident Joni Crowe, age 16, left her residence in Castleton-on-Hudson at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Schodack Police said the teen, who is considered a vulnerable juvenile, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, light blue crop top, dark colored sweatpants, and red and black Crocs.
