Photos: Northern Valley Salutes Champs With Parade

DEMAREST, N.J.– Proud families and friends cheered and waved signs during a “Parade of Champions” early Friday evening to honor some very special Northern Valley/Demarest High School athletes.

The Northern Valley/Demarest softball team won the Group 2 state title; the boys swim team won the Group C state title; and Michael Rozenvasser won a boys state tennis title

They included the Lady Norsemen softball team, coached by Keith Johnson, which won its first Group 2 championship since 1979. 

Also honored were the boys swim team, which rookie head coach Samantha Puso led to the Group C crown

Another champion, Michael Rozenvasser, went undefeated and earned a state singles tennis title. 

All rode on a float from the school through Closter and Haworth and back.

Firefighters, police and ambulance corps members from Closter, Demarest and Haworth joined them.
