“The girl was really scared,” one officer told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “Hopefully someone will be able to tell us who he is and we can talk to him.”

The youngster told police the man followed her from the Annie Sez on Piermont Road to the Starbucks on Closter Dock Road, walking close to her and crossing the street when she did.

When the seecurity guard went to look for him, police said, the man was gone.

Detectives obtained video footage that shows the man then hanging around inside the CVS Pharmacy in the shopping center next to the Starbucks without buying anything.

“He walked around for a full half hour without even approaching the cash register,” an officer told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

He is described as white, in his 40s, with a pot belly, brown hair, scruffy facial hair, dark jeans and a black “Widener Football” shirt. He was also carrying an umbrella with a black handle at the time.

Notices were sent home with Closter schoolchildren, informing parents of what happened.

Anyone with information about him is asked to immediately call Closter police: (201) 768-7144.

The description was different in this case:
