Cresskill Trainer, Dietician Ready Children For Fall 5K, Mile-Long Fun Run

CRESSKILL, N.J. -- A dietician and a trainer to the stars will prepare Cresskill school children for an "Educating the Future" 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run

The sessions at both Merritt and Bryan schools will "ensure your child is not only healthy and fit but also ready to tackle the 5K," trainer Josh Zitomer said. 

The five-week clinic will meet before school – from 7:30-8:20 a.m. Children will be escorted to the front of school for the morning bell, organizers said.

The cost is $95 (race fee) plus a $5.70 signup fee. 

Registration for the Meritt sessions, led by Julie Balay, a registered dietitian and board certified sports dietitian, ends Sept. 21.

Registration for the Bryan sessions, led by Zitomer, ends Sept. 22. 

The 5K and Fun Run takes place Oct. 16. The first 300 registrants get T-shirts. There will be awards for the top three male and female finishers, as well as for the top three finishers younger than 10 years old.

There also will be a deejay and post-race/run refreshments.

The schedule is:

8 a.m. – Check-In Begins

9 a.m. – 5K Run Start

10:30 a.m. – Fun Run

10:45 a.m. – Awards

Registration is $20 plus a sign-up free for the 5K (free for the fun run), increasing to $25 plus the fee starting Sept. 1. Registration ends Oct. 14.

All proceeds go to Cresskill High School, Cresskill Middle School, Bryan School and Merritt Memorial School.
