The renovations will include new produce and bakery sections, new flooring and lighting, self-checkout lines and Stop & Shop's new "scan-it" technology that allows loyalty cardholders to use handheld scanners to scan their items while they shop rather than wait until checkout.
"The people of Tenafly can look forward to a newer, fresh looking and fresh tasting store that will provide a much more inviting shopping environment," Putterman told Daily Voice. "I think people will be amazed at the difference when they walk into the remodeled store."
The 23,000 square-foot building Stop & Shop is housed in was built in 1958. Stop & Shop opened in the West Railroad Avenue location in 2001.
Putterman encourages shoppers to visit Stop & Shop's Closter and Demarest locations while the store is being remodeled.
