CLOSTER, N.J. – Two local students recently received awards for their volunteer work from Weichert Realtors’ Closter office.

Brian Pierro, recipient of the award at Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest, has been a volunteer fireman at the Closter Fire Department since August 2011. He also has been a member of the volunteer Closter Ambulance Corp. since December 2012. He has enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and has ambitions of becoming a police officer in the future.

Kelsey Stewart, recipient of the award at Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan, created a second food pantry in town. She also volunteers in an animal shelter and raises money for homeless shelters. She will be attending the University of Scranton in the fall and will pursue a degree in primary education.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to support the youth in our neighborhoods year after year,” said Sara Brine, manager of the Weichert Realtors’ Closter office, in a press release. “In line with the Weichert culture, we are grateful to be able to make a difference for these students in their future endeavors.”
