Tonight in Cresskill: Presentation on ‘growing epidemic’ of teen substance abuse

PUBLIC SAFETY: A presentation for parents sponsored by parents and school officials in three Bergen County towns tonight will address “A Growing Epidemic: Teen Substance Abuse.”

Scheduled speakers for the event at the Merritt Memorial School Auditorium in Cresskill — from 7-8:30 p.m. — will include detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Narcotic Task Force and parents who’ve lost children to drugs.

Also:

• Aykut Ozden a child, adolescent and addiction psychiatrist who is director of the Comprehensive Assessment Center at Mount Sinai-St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.

• Ellen Elias, the senior vice-president of Prevention and Community Services for Children’s Aid and Family Services at The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources.

A question-and-answer session will be moderated by Cathy White, a student assistant counselor at Cresskill Middle/High School.
