Officer Brian Gallina stopped the Chevy Suburban, driven by 31-year-old Marco Morales-Carrillo, because it had bogus temporary license plates, Detective Sgt. Jim DePreta said.

Gallina took Morales-Carrillo into custody and was waiting for a tow truck to impound the vehicle when 24-year-old Caroline Tixe of Englewood showed up, DePreta said.

Police seized Tixe after she tried to take the Suburban away herself, after which she spit on arresting officers, the sergeant said.

"She was eventually subdued and charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, and throwing bodily fluids at officers," DePreta said.

Morales-Carillo was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and failing to turn drugs over to police. He also received several motor vehicle summonses.

Both were released pending court hearings.
