Robert Vaccaro, 32, of Creskill was released without bail pending a Municipal Court hearing on charges of drug possession and careless driving after he was stopped just before 8 p.m. at Market Street and River Drive, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

A shor time earlier, they arrested 25-year-old John Ragosta of Dumont after stopping him in the area of East 53rd Street and finding eight bags of heroin, a bag of marijuana, a hypodermic syringe and a glass pipe, Foligno said. He also received several motor vehicles summonses.

Ragosta, like Vaccaro, was processed and released pending a court appearance.
