Driver Hospitalized After SUV Rolls 3 Times In Closter Crash

CLOSTER, N.J. -- Initial reports of a Jeep leaving the scene of a Closter multi-rollover crash that sent a 57-year-old Ridgefield woman to the hospital Friday afternoon with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening were inaccurate, police told Daily Voice.

A vehicle ran a stop sign and struck the Honda SUV around 1 p.m., sending it rolling three times on northbound Knickerbocker Road before it came to rest against a fence and a tree several yards from the Demarest Avenue intersection, Closter Detective Sgt. Vincent Aiello told Daily Voice.

"She was conscious and alert" after responders quickly extricated her and took her to Hackensack University Medical Center, he said.

"Original reports of a hit and run were not correct," the sergeant added.

Closter and Demarest firefighters and Closter police were among the responders.

There was no immediate word on summonses for the other driver.
