The 18-year-old victim posted the $300 bag and a shirt for sale online and got a message of interest back, Detective Sgt. Vincent Aiello told Daily Voice.

The teen told police he carried the items to their new black Infiniti as the pair pulled up on Thursday, then handed the driver the bag when he asked to see it.

"The guy then ripped the sweatshirt from his hand and they took off," Aiello said.

The teen described him as about 18 to 20 years old, with a round face and tan complexion -- possibly Filipino -- and wearing a red-and-white straight-brimmed baseball cap and black tank top.

He was accompanied by a thin white man with pale skin and brown hair, the victim told police.

The Infiniti had temporary New Jersey license plates, sport rims and other after-market accessories, he said.

Aiello warned people to be wary of such arrangements.

He also noted that such crimes tend to happen in series.

"Most times someone who's done this has done it before and will do it again," the sergeant said.

Aiello also asked that anyone with information that could help the investigation call him: (201) 768-7144.
