The bandit — who was white, about 6 feet tall and wearing dark pants and a long-sleeved shirt — took off when police responded to a Morningside Avenue address near Rose Street around 4 a.m.

A Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit participated in the search.

“They got a good scent and had him tracked for awhile, but then it stopped,” a law enforcement source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

One theory was that he may have gotten into a vehicle.

Subsequent calls came in from residents who reported seeing flashlights, but those turned out to belong to police hunting for the prowler.
