SHOUT OUTS: Northeast Bergen students dominated this year’s “Choose Not to Use” poster contest sponsored by the county prosecutor’s office for area schoolchildren to describe why or how they won’t take drugs.

The eight winners were selected online from 24 finalists at each middle- and high school grade level from 5th to 12th grade, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

“With one of the winning entries receiving approximately 600 votes, public interest in the contest was impressive,” he said.

The group was honored at the Prosecutor’s Office’s recent SNAP (Statewide Narcotic Action Plan) conference for educators and law enforcement last Wednesday.

“Our office’s law enforcement professionals are committed to warning young people about the life-threatening dangers of drug use,” Molinelli said. “This contest is a cooperative effort with our schools to educate students that the only safe option is to never use these addictive substances.”
