Longtime Closter Historian Arthur Goldberg, 88, Dies

CLOSTER, N.J. -- Dr. Arthur Goldberg, a longtime historian of Closter, died on Monday, March 6. He was 88.

Goldberg was very involved in his community serving on the Historic Commission, Environmental Commission and Planning Board in the Borough of Closter. He served as a Lt. and medical doctor in the U.S. Navy in Japan from 1957-1959. After retiring from his practice as an internist, hematologist, and oncologist, he devoted more time to his passion for ceramics. 

Goldberg was the husband of  Esther for 54 years; father of Deborah Goldberg and Marc Goldberg; father-in-law of Michael Schoenwald; grandfather of Rachel and Daniel; and brother of Marilyn Perelman.
