Dolores Ann (Recchio) Hayes, 84, Cresskill Resident

CRESSKILL, N.J. -- Dolores Ann (Recchio) Hayes - a long-time resident of Cresskill who was also known as Aunt Dee or Aunt Dee Dee -- died on Saturday, June 18. She was 84.

Hayes graduated from Dumont High School. After she raised her three children, she worked as an insurance broker at Dan DeSimone State Farm Agency for many years.

"Mom, we will miss your Shakespeare quotes and grammar corrections, your Italian expressions, your sense of humor, sage advice, your open heart, and your smile that lit up a room," information from the funeral home noted.

Hayes is survived by her children, James Hayes, Terése Daigle and her husband Rick, and Lisa Hayes Schenkel and her husband Earl; grandchildren Maxwell Schenkel and Christian J. Daigle; and sister Yolanda Dizzini.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Allen Hayes Jr.; parents, Rose and Thomas Recchio; sisters Carmella "Millie" Giardina, Louise Manoy, Josephine Verlardi, Antoinette Riordan, Mary Goldberg and Anna Blacker; and brothers Louis, William, John, Frank and Phillip Recchio.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., in Dumont. A funeral mass will be offered at at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Therese of Lisieux Church, in Cresskill. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, in Tenafly.
