RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Fox News Correspondant Brenda Buttner of Ridgewood died Monday, succumbing to cancer.

"Sad news to report... our colleague and my friend Brenda Buttner passed today," Fox News' Eric Bolling tweeted as news of the 55-year-old senior business correspondent's death spread. "She fought cancer heroically. RIP Brenda. We will miss you."

Fox News on Monday posted a video montage remembering the host of "Bulls & Bears" on Fox News Channel.

Neil Cavuto also offered a heartfelt tribute on his "Your World" program.

"She took stock of life much more than any stock of life," Cavuto said in a tribute Monday on his "Your World" program. "It's what separated her from everyone else in this business.

"Not just dollars, you see. Brenda had depth."

Buttner "made us want to watch a business show with heart. Her heart, her spirit," Cavuto said. "She democratized dollars and just made sense....Business journalism is never going to be the same."

A Harvard University graduate, Buttner also hosted CNBC's "The Money Club" and also served as the network's Washington correspondent before working for Fox News.

She began her career as an anchor and reporter for KCRL-TV (NBC 4) in Nevada and earned the Cable Ace Award for Best Business Programming in 1996.

The motorcycle aficionado also had many of her personal finance articles published in "The New York Times" and "Ladies' Home Journal."

In one of her final Facebook posts, in mid-January, Buttner wrote: "It may seem like a cliche, but it's true. I am blessed with each day I awake and see my two beautiful daughters."
