CRESKILL, N.J. -- Happy birthday to William Michael Stanton, of Cresskill, who has been both a notable baseball player and a local coach. He'll turn 49 on Thursday, June 2.
Stanton was a specialist relief pitcher for a variety of teams -- including the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees -- over his nearly 20 years playing in Major League Baseball. He also has a record for the most holds, though that's not an official stat.
Stanton coached Don Bosco Prep's varsity baseball team in 2010.
