The NASA scientist was born Oct. 4, 1957 and turns 60 Wednesday.
He is a graduate of Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, class of 1975, and Princeton University, class of 1979. He also earned a master's from Stanford in 1984 and a doctorate from Princeton in 1990.
While at NVRHS, Linteris was a wrestler and advanced to the state tournament.
Linteris, also of Englewood, flew as a payload specialist on two NASA Space Shuttle missions in 1997. He logged over 471 hours in space.
He is a staff scientist in the Fire Research Division of the Engineering Laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD.
