DEMAREST, N.J. -- Vibrant is the only word to use when describing Erica Song of Dermarest who owns and operates Vibrant Life in Englewood.
Vibrant life, vibrant mind and vibrant health are all part of her philosophy into living a long and healthy life.
Song founded Vibrant Life Medicine in 2014 after 14 years of practice with her mother, Dr. Yoon-Bok Jhee, at Englewood OB-GYN Women’s Group.
Her mission is to create a healing environment for each person to promote the most vibrant life possible. Song is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is an active staff member at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
"Just like in an airplane, when the oxygen masks drop, you need to take care of yourself first before you are able to take care of others," she said. " Even if you feel good on the outside, you may not be 'good' on the inside."
Throughout her years of experience, as well as undergoing personal and family health struggles, Song started studying functional medicine and other healing philosophies. Her studies have been through the Institute for Functional Medicine, the Metabolic Medical Institute and the Academy for Anti-Aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine, through which she is currently completing an additional fellowship and board certification.
" I help men and women achieve and maintain wellness by building on the foundation to health, including proper nutrition, adequate sleep, movement, mind-body stress management, supplements and hormone optimization," she added.
When not at work, the wife and mother of two tries to lead as vibrant of a life as possible by eating in a healthy way (she makes more than 90 percent of their meals), and by moving, moving, moving.
"With two children, it seems like you can’t stop moving," she said.
And finally, she also makes sure she and her family have routine exams and tests to ensure they are as vibrant on the inside as they feel on the outside.
