DEMAREST, N.J. — There's not much that can come between Demarest's Dan Celestina and pizza night.
He hasn't missed the Tuesday event at Grant Street Cafe in Dumont since early 2015.
"No one is as dedicated to the cause as much as I am," said Celestina, 24, otherwise known as "Pizza Man Dan."
You could almost call it an obsession.
It started in 2014 just after he broke up with his then-girlfriend to help distract himself from the breakup.
"Then I got halfway through the year and looked back," he said. "I realized I hadn't missed a single Tuesday."
There was no stopping him then.
At the year mark, Grant's recognized Celestina's commitment with a picture on their social media page — in a pizza costume, of course — and a free round of beer.
He continues to give back to the cafe every week.
There was only one time Celestina cut it close.
"I wanted to go to a concert in New York City so I had a friend pick me up a pie," he said. "He was also coming to the concert so I had him leave it with the security guard.
"When I got to the front of the line I ate it next to the guard and then gave him the rest."
But his love for the food goes beyond the taste.
"It can always be different," he said. "That's why I love it."
Scroll through his Instagram account and you'll see countless pictures of the Pizza Man wearing pizza-themed costumes, shirts and eating dozens of pies.
Pugs with pizza. Pizza superimposed into landscapes. Babies eating pizza.
With Halloween just around the corner, Celestina already has his costume picked out. Can you guess what it is?
Stop in to Grant Street Cafe at 25 Grant Ave. in Dumont any Tuesday evening to meet the famed Pizza Man Dan.
