Closter Veteran Named American Legion Post Commander

CLOSTER, N.J. -- Joe Organo was officially named commander of the Leroy S. Mead Post 111 American Legion on Tuesday night.

The American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion were established in 1919, toward the end of World War I, to promote veteran's affairs. Closter's Post 111 was awarded its charter in September 1919.

You must have served in the armed forces during wartime and have been honorably discharged, in order to be eligible for American Legion membership.
