Residents can use the collection site located at the Closter DPW for the disposal of grass clippings, leaves, branches, mulch, fill or any other yard or garden waste or debris, officials said in an advisory notice to residents. There is also a pickup schedule online.
The Closter Environmental Commission dedicates considerable numbers of volunteer hours enhancing, repairing, restoring and reconstructing Closter’s woodland trails that comprise the Closter Trail system in the parks.
This extensive trail system is offered to the community as another passive recreational venue, officials said.
Volunteers, which included high school senior service students, performed maintenance on the trails and noticed several areas where yard debris and other waste materials had been dumped.
Dumping on public lands is prohibited by New Jersey State Law and can result in costly fines, officials said. Residents are asked to report any incidents of dumping to the Closter Police Department at 201-768-5000.
